Bangkok 1970s
An Asian kingdom rebuilt frame by frame, warm light, wet streets and the faces of another decade
Can I make people feel nostalgic for a time that was never filmed?
The small details: raindrops, facial expressions, the laughter of children, the innocence of passers-by and the constant, honest Thai smile. An amazing decade that feels like longing.
A night market, a woman with fruit baskets walking through the rain, a cook at her wok, a street full of beetle cars, a young monk by the canal, schoolchildren running toward the camera, a boy feeding an elephant. More than a dozen small scenes, one decade.
Each scene began as a still image and was then brought to life with video AI. I chose the faces, the clothes, the light and the pace, and cut it into a single vertical film built for the phone.
Why it lives in the lab
Thailand is the country I have visited most often: 43 times. Its culture as the land of smiles fascinates me, and in this film I tried to show where all of that comes from: the simplicity and the cultural traits that stayed like a stamp across the last century.
It is also a serious test. Period atmosphere is the first thing that looks fake in AI work, and this film is where I learned how to make it feel lived in.
